drivers issue

I have the VStudio set up with VS700 rack units and the console of course. I also have a firepod... I hook it up to the computer and sonar asks me if I want to add it to the set up... I say yes and the VS700 drivers stop working. ???
It did the same thing with the Line6 ux1 unit...
Any one else with this issue? What to do?

How are you trying to link the Firepod to the VS-700?  If it's by the ASIO driver then, I don't think it's possible as you can only have one active ASIO driver at a time.  You could try to link via the SPDIF but I think you would be limited to 2 inputs and outputs.

Unfortunately, only one driver at a time.  I think this is a limitation in all DAW's not just Sonar.  I have heard of people using ASIO4ALL to use multiple devices but don't have an experience with it.  I ended up going with a DigiMax FS to get the additional I/O via ADAT.

Does the Firepod have WMD drivers?  You might try using those in both the VS 700 and the Firepod.

Actually, there is a work around to one Asio device at a time. It's called www.asio4all.com

Incidently, that util is the only way I got inputs of either the V-Studio 100 or 700 to work using Live - yet another app where the 700 console works great as a control surface!

No knock on Roland or Cakewalk, but in the spirit of MIDI - I like to have choices.

Sorry to get you off track on your problem but you seem very knowlegable and my problem should be a piece of cake for you.  I started running Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 some years ago on a IBM thinkpad.  When I installed it the MPU drivers also installed and it ran perfectly.  Well, that old bugger quit so I installed it on my Dell laptop but no MPU drivers installed.  I know these are old drivers and probably can't be found anymore.  Can you tell me what new drivers I can download to get me up and running again?  I'd really appreciate and help you can give me.
