drum loops

Can someone suggest a good drum loops package? Also, are there any good sites which host free drum loops?

Hip hop and funk, mostly. I'd like to get something with an extensive loop library but allows for tweaking, if there is such a thing.

You should check out SiliconBeats and Smart Loops.

There are probably a bunch of other good/better sites, so hopefully someone can chime in with some suggestions. One package that you should definitely check out is Spectrasonics Stylus RMX. It's a drum monster with a huge library of sounds and loops. The loops are all in MIDI format, so it's very easy to edit them. There are some cool expansion packs available as well, that would probably fit your needs better than the bundled loops. It's not a cheap route, but it blows away any of the free loops that you're going find, IMO.

Couple of months back www.TheLoopBox.com was having a closing down offer of all their drum loops (1000) for 10 USD, downloadable. Took me weeks to get them all downloaded. Might be worth checking out to see if it's still available
