edirol synth delay problem

I am using Oxgen 8 keyboard. Using Sonar Producer Xl I hit insert , dxi, edirol. It installs the 2 tracks and when I hit the keyboard I get almost a one second delay before I hear the sound. Using the MOTU 2408 Mark3. Going into the usb 2 slot. I do have a usb 1 slot I did not try . I am going to do that now. But donot think that is the trouble.
Might be a soft ware switch???
Thanks
Jay

You have discovered "LATENCY". It's usually no big deal to fix, read it up in the manual and do a forum search.

I had the option of installing software/drivers in order to connect an Edirol PCR-30 to my computer via a USB connection, but chose instead to use the standard midi ports on my Q10. Why add software and increase the burden on the cpu and the controller hub, only to experience latency while playing the keyboard? If you have midi ports, use them.

Solved the problem myself. checked read and write cache on audio-advanced. now no delay.

going from usb port to midi port did not help... checking read and write cache did the answer
