editing MIDI notes - dumb question?

Anyone know if it's possible to click on a note in the piano roll view, and change it by hitting a key on your controller?  I figure X1 must be able to do anything I could do with Music-X on my Amiga in 1988....but maybe not....

Thanks

You can probably click/hold the note and drag it up and down. In the SV, it does it diatonicly.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

mondo I don't think it works like that but in PRV & staff you can click and drag the notes.  Just because the Amiga from 1988 could do something doesn't mean X1 can do it....and vice versa. I doubt that the features of X1 ....or even half of them were available in the Amiga in 88....

also in staff view if you right click the note a note property window opens and you can adjust the parameters of the note very precisely.

In staff view, the notes will not drag chromatically. They are based on a key and follow the scale for that key which you are operating in.  You can adjust the note to whatever note you want in the note properties window. Changing the key from the default to the precise key you are working in however, will make editing in staff much easier.

Thanks guys.  Yes I am aware I can drag notes in the PRV.  I just thought it would be eaiser to have one hand on the mouse, one on the keyboard - click, key, click key, etc.

This was really for a track I had recorded then used audiosnap to trigger MIDI drums, and wanted to change each note to a different drum.  It took a while by clicking and dragging, but got the job done.

I still find it amusing that given how far things have come in sequencers since 1988, there's still something I could do in 1998 that I can't do now.... :)

You can select all the notes of the same pitch and drag them anywhere in only two clicks with one hand!  I too used the Amiga with the Soundscape program.  I actually taught some classes on it at Midi City in L.A. back then.  We've come a long way baby.
