editing clips together (groups) not working as I'd think

Hey all,

I'm in the middle of editing some guitars and I want to edit two tracks toghether, because the performance is exactly the same (bass direct vs. bass re-amp).

The tracks are made of many clips, not just one solid one. I could just bounce all the clips in each track to a single clip, but then I'd lose my edit points which I don't want to do.

When I group all of the clips together, edits on one clip effect the next clip in the track.

The video will explain it very easily.

Is there a way to make it so that edits on each clip on the top track, effect the track below it? The end of the video shows what I want to do (but I just manually select the related clips)

Thanks guys!

Josh

There is but it means selecting each pair of clips as individual groups. i.e. select both first clips on track 1 and track 2, right click select "Create selection group from selected clips". Repeat with next pair etc.

That may mean and awful lot of groups depending on the number of clips.

Try bouncing one tracks clips to a complete new clip while retaining the originals. Do the same for the second (reamp) clips. Then select the two bounced entire ( glued together ) clips to do your edits. At the point where you have a bunch of seperate clips on a track, you have to make a choice as to whether you're done with that phase, at that point to proceed to a group edit. Since re-amping creates subtle differences in the same material however you do it. You might find it better to combine the clips first depending on what kind of group edit you had planned to do to them.
