expanding single or multiple tracks (but not all of them)

I'm  using Sonar X2 Studio and I'm tired of the following behavior:
I want to expand a track so that I can really look at the waveform, so I expand the track.
I now want to expand the track below it so I can look at both of these tracks.  As soon as I click on the track below, the track I just expanded minimizes.  I also notice that sometimes when I try to expand a track, all of the tracks expand.

How can I only influence individual track behaviors and not have other tracks expand and contract.  Sorry if I'm not explaining this well, but I've lived with this goofy behavior for months now and it's finally driven me crazy.

Hi. I did not have X2, but perhaps "Auto Zoom" is enabled?
Try hitting Shift+Z.
All the best.

Ken the same thing happens to me when posting links for Sonar platinum documentation.
It cuts off half the link.
however Sonar X2 document links post fine. I haven't been able to figure out why.
PS- Good guess on the Auto zoom (you are correct)
