export audio in X3

When I try to export audio in X3, the program stops completely with no error message. It generates a report but cannot connect to the Cakewalk site. Any ideas as to how to fix?

There should not be a need to be connected to the internet to export your audio. Does the report that's generated give any clues as to what might be wrong?

I know I do not need to be connected to the internet to export audio, but after the program stops  it generates an error report and asks if I would like to send it. When I click on yes it says there is a connection problem and can't send. (as an aside; what's up with Cakewalk? I cannot find a way to communicate with them, phone email, nothing. any ideas there?)
The main issue is the inability to export audio. The last time I tried it was a month ago and it worked fine. I did get a message recently saying the "audio engine(?)" had stopped working but all audio throughout the computer seems to be working fine. Any ideas on some program, new or existing, that might be interfering with the export function? Or might there be a Cakewalk file that has gotten corrupted and needs to be recreated? This, coupled with the inability to contact Cakewalk is going to make me look at Cakewalk's competitors.
