exporting files HELP!!

it seems that when i locate the file there are more folders then there should be I.E. some of the previous takes before editing are pulled of the hard drive, also, there are little clips which have no information at all. this is what i'm doing, i finish the project, save it to .wav then locate the file then what i want to do is send it to someone but what i do is to see if it works import it to a new project. what happens is all the things i worked on (pre edit) show up and there all over the place, nothing lines up. does anyone have any ideas?

Well, if you're saving the project as a .wav, that would be a single stereo track. How can it not line up? And with what are you trying to line it up to?

hi, what i'm doing is going to the audio file where each track is. does that make sense? then i import them on to a new project. the clips/tracks don't line up also there is more data then i saved.

You're totally on the "wrong tracks" (:o/) there and you have misunderstood the procedure 100%. No wonder nobody could help you and no wonder we got no answers from you concerning the export format.

You  don't send the project audio files to anyone, don't even touch them if you don't have any idea of what you're doing, you'll end up destroying your projects. You export the tracks to Broadcast wav and send those to your friend. Time to spend some time reading the manual and doing the tutorials?

Also, the way you've spread your query in three different threads (two of the same title, even) is really not clever at all. If you deliberately try to make things difficult, it may happen that people simply ignore your threads.

So you're sending each audio track seperately?
Do all of the tracks begin on the first measure?
Who is doing the final mixing, you or your friend?
Is your friend using a Cakewalk program?

Whenever I export audio or MIDI, either a mixed-down project or a single track, I export them to folders on my desktop, one called Audio Files and the other MIDI files. That way It's easy to find and remains uncluttered. From those folders, it's easy to open them in Windows Media Player, to re-import them into another project or to convert them to mp3 for emailing or posting on a music web site.

Greg, he's meddling with Project Audio folder, I'm sure.
He's sending the wav's from there to his friend. That's why we get no answers whatsoever when we mention "export". That's why this thing isn't going anywhere, because he's doing the unthinkable.

"...some of the previous takes before editing are pulled of the hard drive, also, there are little clips which have no information at all..."
That can't mean any kind of exported folder or file.

I may be wrong, but I don't think I am. :o/ If I am, I apologize for the fuzz.

hey pal, NONE of the "answers" i got from you "experts" was worth a damn, especially you. what you do is write condescending reply's but no solutions. the "help" section of sonar is useless. i did however figure it out. maybe up there in finland or where ever it is you come from you spend too much time in the dark or walrus hunting. thanks for nothing

joey, you are about as rude as they come,he was trying to help you,so if you can figure it out yourself without needing our help, why ask?.and why deside to pick on him because of the country he comes from.this is clearly against tos.
    and ive reported you.
also the next time you need help, alot of us are going to remember you and know just what kind of help to give you.
that would be either a wild goose chase,or no help at all.

and did you ever think for a second, its not sonar or the manual, its you?
kalle even apologized if he wasnt being clear.the only condesending one here is you.

Dear Joey! What was it that you took as an insult?
You were on wrong tracks and I noticed that we all were chasing the wrong rabbit.
Should I have used somehow more humble and apologizing expressions or what?

With that attitude, you'll be on wrong tracks many, many more times in your life.

If you feel like case-checking, go through all your posts in the three threads concerning this problem, and search the places where you reacted to our advice to export as Broadcast wav.
You were as if you had not read our posts at all. Practically all answers to you mentioned exporting, but you did not react to it in any way.
    Peace!

I suspect that there are more people ready to help who didn't understand the question the way it was worded.  If in future you try explaining the problem with better clarity and more detail, I can almost guarantee that you will get some useful replies.  Keeping it civil helps too.
