ez drummer

Hello, I have been using ez drummer and really like it. But, I have purchased drumkit from hell, nashville kit, and funkmasters. The main reason I bought the exp pacs is because I wanted more grooves of different styles. The funk masters pac didnt come with very many grooves. So, I really dont want anymore drum kits but I would like a bunch of drum grooves that can be auditioned in ez drummer and then dragged and dropped into the track. All suggestions as to some software to check out is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Groovemonkee (or is it monkey) sells loads of midi grooves. Or you could simply program your own...

Another vote for Groove Monkey. Their grooves have a bit more to them than the stock EZD files and they can be installed so they appear within EZD's browser.

    Thanks for that information Slugbaby.

I presume I can also use those grooves in Addictive Drummer as well? Thats my drum program at present.

Thanks for the info and it sound like groove monkey is what I'm looking for. I havent explored the making my own grooves up and i know that one of these days i need to take the plunge into it. Will I be able to load groove monkey into ez drummers library? That would pretty much seal the deal. Also, thanks Scott for the added info, and I cant waite for sonar 8 to get here Monday.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hey Jeff,

Yep, you can use Groove Monkee loops in EZdrummer. Groove Monkee provides all its loops in various drum formats and provides instructions on how to install them.

When you mentioned Sonar 8, did you mean my Sonar 8 Power book? If so, thanks! I hope you enjoy the book.

    Best,
    Scott

the problem with a lot of the EZ drummer template grooves, is they leave too much space between hits to try and make it sound real....for example the kick will hit at 002 and the high hat in the groove at 028... too much time and I end up moving the high hat forward to make it more tight.

To the poster. Yuo do know that you can edit any of the midi groove in the PRV.
No need to wste $$$ and youll be going thru 10000000000000 grooves to find the one that fits exactly how you want it too.
Just find a close one and edit it in the PRV or just make your own in the prv starting with a simple 1/4 exdrummer beat.

yeh, I do do a litlle bit of editing in piano view. I havent figured out how to get the drum maps in there so i dont have to guess where the drum pieces are at. But the way I like to write is by being inspired by a drum groove so the more to pic from initialy the better.

    Cheers.

The Poster....you need an EZ drummer drum map that you can set your midi tracks to...which will then show you the proper drums in the piano view...do a search on this forum for these and you should be able to find someone with a download link providing these drum maps.

Groovemonkey also provides drum maps. Only for the standard kit though, I believe.

But I'll agree with everyone that Groovemonkey has some great beats.

And CJ is right (again? ). Get a beat that's close to what you want then make it your own. That's the whole concept about pre-made beats.

Cool, thanks Scott. I will check this out. I too am hungry for more drum grooves to use inside EZD, but I would also be throughly impressed if I could use them with Jamstix as well. I know Jamstix will benefit me, but I have not learned it well yet, mainly because EZD is so darn......... EZ!
