"faltering" time line

Hi all... I've been working on a track for sometime now and suddenly I seem to get "glitches" whilst the track is playing. The best way to describe the problem is that the track "falters" briefly causing the audio output to hiccup. The track is using most of my outboard midi boxes with the exception of session drummer. When the track falters, the entire audio mix falters at the same time - so it's affecting all the outbards simultaneously - then recovers. The vertical timeline on the track view page also falters at the same time. Tried "restore" in case a gremlin has got in but the problem remains. I've also loaded a few other files and the problem doesn't seem to exist anywhere else. It would seem to be caused by a corruption in whatever times the playback? I've doen a lot of work on this particular track and it would really hurt if I had to start again!! Any ideas anyone????

Hi Greg, No other programs running, just HS6. The PC is connected to the internet, but can't see that is an issue. Had to give up on the track for the moment, it's consuming too much wasted time!

Anti-virus turned off? That could cause some stumbling or noise if it's on.
What are your Options>Audio settings? Driver Mode, Buffers in Playback Queue, etc?

Hi Greg, I've disconnected the Wifi link entirely now, but it made no difference. The audio settings are Driver mode ASIO, no dithering, share drivers with other programs, use multi-processing,ASIO reported latency 600,I/O buffer size 128kB. I'm using the 44,100 sample rate, buffers in playback queue=2, and buffersize 11.6 mS Fast. the last two are greyed out so I can't change them. Does any of this give you a clue?

You can try increasing the mixing latency to 256 or the bufferes in playback queue.

Check out the Improving Performance and the Troubleshooting sections of the Help files for more info.

When using ASIO, the Wave Profiler button becomed the ASIO Panel button. You can change some settings after clicking that button.

Hi Greg, Thanks for the input (no pun intended!) I've been playing around with the parameters of the Firewire 410 which is my audio interface. The upshot being that in desperation I've downloaded the driver again - which was actually the same version I had installed! - and it seems to have sorted it out somehow. No idea how or why that made a difference and I don't like unsolved mysteries, but as I've spent enough time tearing my hair out ( and I can't afford to loose too much more!) I'll call it sorted! Thanks for the support though much appreciated.
