Digital Rights Question

I have Sonar LE installed on Computer 1.  I have Nero installed on Computer 2.  I wanted to burn a CD of songs recorded in Sonar LE.  Here's what I did.

1.  In Sonar LE, I exported the audio as "RIFF WAV" files and saved them on the hard drive of Computer 1.

2.  I then burned a CD with those files using Windows Media Player.

3.  That CD would not play in my CD player.  I thought .wav files would play in a CD player but I guess they don't.

4.  So, I took the CD with the .wav files and put it into Computer 2 and copied the files onto that computer's hard disk.

5.  I launched Nero on Computer 2 and tried to create a CD with those files.

6.  Nero would not burn the CD.  It gave me an error message that the files were "protected" (sorry I don't have the exact wording of the error message, but it was clear that Nero was treating the files as digitally protected).

What am I doing wrong here?  I couldn't find an option in "export audio" to protect or unprotect files, so maybe the protection was added by Windows Media Player.  All I want to do is make a CD that will play in a CD player.

    Hi,
It sounds as though Windows Media player did ineed add a DRM tag to your files. Can you not simply install Nero on PC 1, and burn your disk with that? Be sure to select the option to burn a CD for use in a normal player or in your car. That way the disk will be properly finalised. Otherwise, there are plenty of free applications that will burn CDs without problem.

Yes, Windows Media Player adds DRM tags to music rips , unless you tell it not to. Here's how:

Go to Tools/Options..., click the Rip Music tab, and uncheck the box marked "Copy protect music".
