230 v for VS-700C ?

Hi - got my VS-700C today, and are looking forward to get it up and running.

I live in Norway, and voltage here is 230.  See the AC is 117 V ( 50/60 hz, 0.31 A) on the back of the console.
I'm not an electrician. What do I do?  Don't want to blow the thing up.

Hi Jeff - and thanks. Yes, got  it from Sweetwater in the US.  Have bought other things like preamps, compressors and mic's form US shops before, and they have always been prepared for european voltage.  It's a pain waiting to try it (just have the console), but I gues I have to wait till I've cleared it with Cakewalk support. 
 
 

Alright - I live in the middle of nowhere, so it will take some days to get hold of the parts - and I'm terrible with the inside of electronics.
 
I'm really dissapointed right now, but glad for your help. Just have to wait for the US to wake up - and I'll call Cakewalk for additional info.

Thats is great. I am glad to hear it. The internal fuse (if there is one!) is obviously not an issue either as it would still blow under bad circumstances anyway. Good to know it has a smart powersupply.

Called Cakewalk who said the 700C  is ok up to 240 v.  I'll have a try....
 
Correction:
Just got a mail from support, and they weren't quite so shure anmyore. As long as i was labeled 117 V, they asked me to use a power converter "to be on the safe side."  We'll see how it goes.

Alright - downloaded the XP driver, get the setup going,
(power up the console - see the welcome screen, 700c i detected)
but xp will not find the driverfile, even if I show XP exactly where it is.
(Have checked the "ignore driver signing" box in System) 
Got a feeling I've been here before somehow. Ends up reenstalling OS i guess...

Haven't been around the forum much lately due to work schedule and travel, plus, when I get the time, I've been "holed up" trying to get a handle on the V700 system and Sonar.  Things are going smoothly in that regard.  All I can say is that I'm impressed with the entire setup; the integration of hardware and software, workflow, etc.  I've got a long way to go before I'm operating near the level that some of you guys are at, but I'm working hard at it.  This thing is much better than my experiences a few years ago with some other systems.

My question:  I haven't upgraded to 8.5.1 yet; still running 8.3.1 and having a great timewith it so far.  Are you still having problems with your upgrade?  Would you recommend that I go ahead and install the upgrade (I downloaded it)?  I've read on some other threads that some are having problems and some are not.  Being in the learning phase, I really don't want software/hardware problems at this point (been there before).  Been reading the Sonar Producer thread, but that thread is not a place for the timid or a Sonar newbie like me.  I need some more time with Sonar before I jump in the fray :)

I would most certainly reccomend you upgrade to 8.5.1. I really don't think you'll run into the problem I'm having which is clearly a missing driver file or something. Everything works fine in 8.5.1, the missing primary outputs on the Fantom has to be an update problem. It still works through the other set of outputs so I'm not real concerned.
I'm sure there will be a fix for whatever is causing it.

From the manual it seems there are two drivers on the installation disc, one for 700 and one for 700C - is that so?
 
In the downloadable version there is only one that I can see. (For 700?)  Can this be the problem?
 
If so - are there anyone with the disk who could copy the 700c XP driver and send it to me?

Good question. I don't know. Have filed a tech support request? It seems there is a problem with the two versions-downloaded and Disc copy. I don't think you want to get the V700C XP driver from any source other than Cakewalk.
Is your info. from examining the manual and the files in the download ? There are differences between the two?
Examine the files in the download again, they should be in a folder, open the folder and post what is there.
