VS-700C driver question

SOLVED

My installation disc is broken, and I have problems installing my VS-700C with the downloaded xp driver from cakewalk. (1.0)

In the VS-700C installation guide there seems to be two drivers on the installation disc, one for 700 and one for 700C - is that so?

In the downloadable version there is only one that I can see. (For VS-700 only?)

If so - are there anyone with the disk who could copy the 700c XP driver and send it to me?

I'd be concerned that any trauma strong enough to break a DVD could have done more serious damage to the hardware...

I am sorry you are having problems there. Normally the V700C console is connected to the VS700R Audio interface, the interface connects to the computer via USB and you install the driver for the VS700R interface. The console connects to it and all is well.

But for those who purchase the console only you still need to install a driver but I am not sure which one as this is not my situation. Contact Cakewalk support and they will help. They are meant to give priority to the V Studio users in terms of response. I am not sure but there may be a different driver that is required for the console only situation. There is also an update to the driver to take it up to 1.1.1 Update which gives the console new and extra features.

I would not worry too much about your box damage. The console is well protected inside that large box and it is well built so there is every chance it is fine.

Hi Jeff - I'm in contact with support, alright - but I just hoped this would be faster, since it weekend. Eager to try the console now.

Here are pics from shipment as I received it - I realy hope it's not damaged.

    From Crg:

"Good question. I don't know. Have filed a tech support request? It seems there is a problem with the two versions-downloaded and Disc copy. I don't think you want to get the V700C XP driver from any source other than Cakewalk.
Is your info. from examining the manual and the files in the download ? There are differences between the two?
Examine the files in the download again, they should be in a folder, open the folder and post what is there. "

Here is the files in the downloadeble XP folder:

I stand corrected, Rapture is on that disc. Or was that another thread? Anyway, let's step back to basics.
In Sonar-options-Controllers/Surfaces, do you have the Console(VS700) in the In Port and Out Port?
In Options-Midi Devices, do you have the Console (VS700) box checked in the inputs and outputs?
Uncheck everything else that is there, i.e.: DV-7, ARX, IO (VS 700).
See if this wakes up the Console if you don't have it setup this way.

I tried - but the console doesn't show up as an alternative in the In and out Ports inder Controller/surfaces.  Neither under Mide Devices in/out.

Those pictures look scary. Dont forget to set your console for Stand Alone Mode. (see p 164 in your manual) There are 8 DIP switches on the back. Normally they are all OFF when using the console with the VS700R. For Console only operation DIP switch 1 must be ON. You may have done this anyway but just checking. I noticed this in the other thread and totally forgot about it myself as another forum member has been having some trouble installing the drivers.

In the Controller Surfaces menu Console VS700 has to be selected in both In Port and Out Port columns. Also note that in the Midi Devices menu there is one thing that should NOT be ticked and that is IO (VS-700) port. This is not the same as IO MIDI (VS-700) which does need to be ticked if you want to use the Midi IN/OUT ports on the VS 700R (which does not effect you)

Its all a little confusing that but once you get used to it then its fine.

Sometimes under the Controller Surfaces Menu for some reason the Console VS700 wont be there for some reason (or changed) and something else might be. So if the console ever goes dead or does not respond or if it is only responding in one direction always check there before doing anything else and it is often the problem.

Yes - the DIP swithes are alright.

I'll guess I'll have to wait for tomorrow and hope support has a new driver for me.

    Hey Guys,

Users installing the VS-700C as a stand-alone device must explore the disc for a "VS-700C" driver folder (this isn't necessary if you have both devices upon initial installation). In trallala's case, it is hard to explore a smashed disc.

We've updated our SONAR V-Studio 700 driver downloads page to include the VS-700C stand-alone drivers as well. Sorry for not posting these sooner. You can find them here: http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/reader.aspx?ID=1901016

Please let us all know how you make out.
