Roll-your-own computer for GTP4.

I've been out of the recording loop for some time, and I'm thinking of getting back into it.  I have GTP3 right now and would probably upgrade to GTP4.  Back when I was messing with DAW-type computers, the Intel Q6600 was the hot processor that everyone one had.  Well, I've migrated all those guts over to another case and built a dedicated work computer.  I'm left with a case -- an Antec P182.  What's a good processor and chipset that people are liking these days for a DAW?

    Hey Jessie,

Take a look at the Core i7. it got glowing reviews from Sound On SOund. outperformed everything else by a substantial margin. Problem is the pricing is a bit on the high side.

As for chipsets...... The gigabyte motherboards run a TI chipset which makes them a prime MB for building a DAW off of.

I would avoid anything named "the baconator".

GT4 runs much better than GT3, although there is still the bad latency issues, however ASIO4ALL seems to fix that fine.
