Want to play PDF sheet music with Sonar in background

I'd like to play sheet music from a PDF file using Sonar HS6 so I can have MIDI accompaniment.   I put HS6 side by side with the PDF file on my monitor and HS6 plays as long as I can keep the "focus" on HS6.   The moment I click on the PDF to go to the next page of music, HS6 loses focus and I don't hear sound.  Is there a way to keep the sound coming from HS6 regardless if the program is the focus?   I have SampleTank LE and when I run it in standalone mode (without using Sonar HS6 as a host) it can play regardless of whether or not the program has the focus.

    not sure about that.  I have done this very thing in the past, but I don't remember it behaving that way.  maybe it has something to do with sampletank being run in VST mode (I'm guessing).  try using TTS-1 instead and see if it still does that.

    I tried it separately with TTS, Dimension Pro, and Sampletank LE  hosted in HS6 and I was only able to get sound when Sonar HS6 was the "focus."  So for now the only way I can play to PDF sheet music on screen is to use Sampletank in the standalone mode.   My next best alternative would be to put my laptop next to my desktop and display the PDF sheet music on the laptop and use the desktop for my sound.  My guess is that there isn't a solution but I thought I'd throw it on the forum in case someone figured out a way to make it work.

    that really sounds wrong, but I'm just not sure until I check itout on my system.  I don't actually have SHS6, but I have sonar 6 which is the same program "under the hood" with fewer functions, so I'll try that and see what happens as soon as I get a chance.

    yeah, I didn't think that was normal.  I can play my keyboard using TTS-1 as output and sonar doesn't have to be the focus.  it still sounds and still plays if I have the focus on another window.

    tell me what your exact inputs and outputs are on your tracks and exactly what your MIDI devices say.  maybe we can trace down the problem.

    I had to edit this message so excuse me for doing so.  I did check for the "share drivers with other programs" feature.  I found it in the options:audio and it was enabled.   I unchecked the box and restarted Sonar and now I am able to hear sound when the focus is on another program so the problem is solved.   Thanks
