Recording problems (it's recording but not!)

Hi folks,

And help!

I've just "fired up" the ol' Music Creator 4 for the first time in  about a year, and have run into a problem. The studio shows that I am recording, but when I'm finished/I stop, nothing has been recorded/saved. Am I forgetting to do something (it has been a year), or what?

Help (again),
Gregg M. Pasterick

    ...oh no, computer details...

I'm just tryin' to add about 45 seconds of audio to something previously recorded. (I never had this problem before, hence the "previously recorded.")

I'm usin' a Gateway notebook, um ... does Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC help?

    ughhhhh.... Sigma Tel Audio card.....

    oh well....

you should be able to use the punch in punch out feature to set up the area you want to record new audio into.... if it's the end.....very easy.... if it's the beginning, just slide the existing audio over.... grab and slide.... if it's in the middle just split the clip, slide the second clip over to make room and punch in/out then drag the clips back together again..... basically that's it...and it should work OK.

    Hi Gregg,

Welcome back.  Maybe this FAQ will help (#5).  There is also a link for help in audio recording.

Plus, after a full year, your computer and it's programs have had multiple updates. Some of these may cause conflicts with MC, like the "Google Toolbar For Windows".
Check all the things in MC's 'Options>Audio' menu. Make sure that a Playback and a Recording Timing Master are selected. Ensure that the correct drivers are chosen under the drivers tab.
Make sure that you only try recording audio in an audio track and MIDI in a MIDI track.
Check all your sound card's settings like Nutty suggested, and that each Music Creator track you record on has an input selected.
