getting audio from the synths??
Hello There, I just bought HS 7xl (1mo ago). I use a lap top(2G RAM, VISTA, "mobile pre" USB audio interface with the internal sound card disabled). I am working on a new "normal" project and the TTS 1 synth included in the template works fine, however when I try to add my own synth no audio. even when auditioning the sounds in PRV/step seq. view. My own guitar track in the same project has audio, but any synth I add, has no audio. Is it an input/outout problem? the TTS 1 synth is loaded in the rack, and the output for the synth track is set to TTS 1, with OMNI as an input (is this right?), is it a channel problem? I am new to this so any help is much appreciated. thank you in advance.

I don't understand what you mean by adding your "own synth" - do you mean a keyboard/hardware synth? if so, how are you trying to "add" it?

Thank you for responding! sorry about that, so, what I mean is.... the synth TTS 1 track that comes with the template under a "normal" project works fine when I audition the drum sounds for example and the track works'/sounds fine. However, if I want to add another midi TRACK to that same existing project, I cant get any audio from it. No matter what synth I use...studio instrument synths (SI bass, SI guitar), TTS 1 synth, Dimension LE. I am not adding any hardware/ or other outside instruments/ keyboards ect.. at this time, but I will be soon. How can i get audio from the midi tracks (within the software program) that I add to a project? I am opening the synth for example TTS -1 but the beats i make (PRV or step seq) have no sound. whats up?

Adding a midi track alone will not yeild you audio or sound, even it you insert a synth into it. You need an audio track to aoutputs the soudn froim the midi. Read or go thru tutorials 2 and 8 and it will clear this up 100% Cj

Load Tutorial1.cwp and do this: 1) View-Synth Rack 2) Click the Insert DXi button (looks like an asterisk) 3) Click on TTS-1 - Check First Synth Output and Synth Property Page checkboxes 4) Edit Select All (to select all tracks) or CTRL-A 5) Track-Property-Output 6) Select TTS-1 from the MIDI Outputs pulldown (that makes the TTS-1 the output for all MIDI tracks) 7) Hit play

Awesome guys!! Thanks for your help. Sound at last! Now it seems that the only sound I can get are the piano midi sounds ( in both PRV and step sequencer). I tried right clicking on the "piano keys" in PRV and configuring to midi drums...this changed the piano key appearance to a "drum name" appearance but when I audition the drum names by clicking, i still get piano sounds. I am using the TTS 1 synth, and then adding a midi track (then running into the mentioned problem) Sorry guys but ts one thing after another w me :)

make sure you're changing the patches from the MIDI track properties, NOT from the TTS-1 GUI (the face). if you change it from the GUI then the MIDI track properties will override the patch, bank and channel information.
