Interface
Having troubles getting my interface to work. It's Live 6 Fast Track Pro. I am getting a stereo signal to the interface, and I am getting a wav file when I push record, but no sound.

You have USB device in some spaces, and IDT Audio 2 in others i think that has to do with it, as it might be making the computer think it is two devices.

Yes, It looks as though the input is configured for a usb device and the output is configured for IDT device. I don't think this will work while using WDM driver mode, but could work for MME mode. Can you use your usb device for output as well? otherwise you can try the MME driver mode. -TAP-

Yeah, you need to get that IDT out of the loop. You should have ASIO drivers available for the Fast Track. If you haven't visited the "Live 6 Fast Track Pro" web site (is that a Line 6, or is it M-Audio Fast Track?) and downloaded and installed the latest drivers and updates for the device, do so, and see if you can change to ASIO driver mode. Once that change is made, the IDT won't work, probably, since few stock sound cards have ASIO drivers. Then the Fast Track will be the only option.

Yeah I agree, get the drivers for the interface from their web site.... the device name... Your interface's NAME should be in the list... not just usb device... and you should be using ASIO drivers with a prosumer interface not the MME/WDM drivers. Also, I noticed that the output of the track was pointed at bus 2.... where does bus 2 go? It should point to master bus and that should point to the USB interface. And you should have sound. Have patience my friend, you are almost there.... It took me a week to get my interface working..... now, you can't shut me up..... Yeah you read that right...7 long frustrating days of try his, try that, where's the hammer?...... but with the help of the forum rats....and dogs, I got it working. When I first got sound out of my speakers..... it was like the heavens parted, the sun was shining, and the angels were singing the hallelujah chorus....! Woooo Hooo!

Lol. Well if I get it working sometime this year I will be happy. I do appreciate all the help I can get. I went to the Maudio website and here is a list of updates, but I don't know which one to get.

I can't see the page to clearly... but I'd get the most recent one that goes to your interface model.

You want XP drivers since you have XP. But there are not any XP 64 bit that i can see. So try the latest XP driver out.

I have ASIO an an options for driver mode, but when I select it I get an error message. I guess that's because I don't have the correct driver. A concern I have is that when I download the driver I wont know how to install it. I guess we will see, Im downloading it right now...

Ok, I think I have it figured out. I have the inputs of my tracks set to stereo fast track pro in, the outputs of my track set to bus 2, and bus 2 output sent to master bus, which is set to IDT AUDIO! my sound card. I am getting sound by golly!!!!

Don't set the output of the master bus to IDT audio, set it to Fast track Pro and attach your speakers and haedphone to the fast track. That way you take the sound card out of the equasion. The fast track IS a sound car, and has far better AD/DA convertors, and far far better sound. But the most important issue is that this allows you to monitor your mix at the fast track, so it eliminates a lot of the latency.

Ok that worked. I sent my master bus to my interface and hooked my headphones into it and I hear the audio just fine. How do I get my metronome to come through the headphones as well?

go to my web site and look at the music page..... I don't use the metro... simply set up a scratch midi track and use the click on a staff method to insert 4 quarter notes.... copy & paste it out as many measures as you need.... you can mute is, delete it or turn it into a drum track when you are done.... I think it works way better than a metro.... I set up 2 measures as count in so my tunes always start on M3. I now use Jamstix but that's another story.

I went to your web page and tried to set it up the way you said but it didn't work for me. It sounds like a good way to establish rythem but it is complicated and I think I will figure it out at a later date. What I need to know now is how to get my audio to stop clipping every time it plays. I have a korg m3 that I am using to lay down bass parts and at the start of every different clip there is a popping sound that's really annoying. Do you know how to get rid of it?

Not an expert here (I'll let them correct if needed), but I don't think you want to record in stereo. Not sure what you are recording, but most devices e.g. vocals, guitar etc. are mono, so you should choose left or right depending on where you mic, jack, etc. is placed. Annette

I am recording in stereo because I am recording from a Korg M3 workstation. I don't think there is an option to record in mono....Could be wrong.....

Yeah, you can record in stereo if you want, especially if you have some stereo effects from whatever you're recording from, like Left Right Delay or some other stereo effect. If there are no stereo effects in your output from the Korg, you can choose which input to use, in the Music Creator track you're recording on. You click the input (I) drop-down arrow and you should be able to select left, right or stereo. Bass is usually a mono instrument, and if you record your mono instruments with a left, or right input, there will be less audio written to your hard drive. A stereo track takes up twice as much space as a mono track. You don't even need to disconnect the other cord, since MC will just record from the 1 input. These days that's not a huge issue, since most computers have large hard drives. But if you anticipate recording a lot, you might need the extra space in a year or 2.
