'Import as mono tracks' doesn't work
Simply put, whenever I tick 'import as mono tracks' to import a stereo file as two separate mono tracks, all its doing is importing the track as a stereo track. I can pan then bounce but honestly thats just a pain with a big number of tracks. Any reason why this isn't working.? Sonar 8.3, importing 24bit .wav files.

I could be that import doesnt use the bounce and it wont combine 2 channels into one durring the import... Just import as stereo and bounce to mono in sonar. It could also be that your selecting split mono, instead of just mono Cj

There is no 'split mono', just 'import as mono tracks'. Also, how can I bounce to mono? I tried using Bounce to Tracks with the track panned but it just made the whole thing mono (I want just the left side on its own, and just the right side, not the whole thing summed to the middle).

Then pan the stereo track to the left if all you want is the left channel or just use one of the split mono tracks. Wehn you bounce a stereo track to a mono track, you combine both sides of the stereo track into one. You can also use channle tools also. Cj

I can't do split mono, that's the problem. I don't know how else to explain this, so I put a couple of pics.

Verified. Import as Mono doesn't seem to work. However, the work around is simple. After importing the audio: 1. Select the audio track. 2. From Sonar's Edit Menu: Select -> Bounce To Track 3. In the dialog select "Split Mono" and under Source select "Track"

Simply put, whenever I tick 'import as mono tracks' to import a stereo file as two separate mono tracks This cannot be done in the import process. You need to get it inside sonar, then split to mono. Cj

He wants one stereo track to be imported as one mono track. That cannot be done. It can onlt be done inside of sonar. The import process does not do that. Cj

bitflipper Works fine here under 8.5.1. I tried this on my laptop using Vista 32 and Sonar 8.31 and it wouldn't work. I tried this on the studio main DAW which is running WindowsXP 32 and Sonar 8.51 and it works. I then tried it on the studio DAW with Sonar 8.31 and it works. At this point I don't know what to tell the OP.

I tried this with Sonar 8.3.1 32 and 64 bit, as well as Sonar 8.5.1 64 bit with the same issue. Stereo tracks just won't import as mono tracks. Could this be a Vista issue?

I am using Windows 7.. But good to know its getting fixed, and the work-around works well anyway.
