Only 577 left until 4x1, seems like a fair chance we'll get there. I love the sounds of the Amplitube products, they are more earthy and gritty (if that makes sense) than the sounds in guitar rig so for that vintage sound they're perfect!
Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

Just a reminder that this group buy is still ongoing, with a few more weeks left to run. I signed up and got the AmpliTubes: "Fender", "Hendrix" and "2". Great value for under £100. I already had the Ampeg SVX, so I knew what sort of quality to expect and I am certainly not disappointed.

Am I missing something here? I have been reading about this group buy for months and finally went to IK and listened to the Fender Amp audio demos on the website. They dont sound very good - or like convincing fender amps, IMHO. The clean sounds sound scooped and artificial. Should I ignore the onsite audio demos and take the time to download the demo program itself? BTW: I listened to some audios of Revalver III in a guitar forum (John Petuttchi?) and one of the distortion sounds was extremely convincing. But I havent heard the clean sounds out of Revalver yet. It used to be supremely easy to record guitar on tape. I was amazed at how bad my guitar sounded (years ago) the first time I tried to record to DAW. It still isnt easy to get a good sound without a lot of processing and I have a very nice tube mic preamp and the typical mics - and of cource, good amps. Hence, My interest in the sims. Mike

I personally don't use them much because I can't get my guitar into them very well so they don't sound like they should but they can sound great in the right set up and right person using them. Line6 has an interface so I can use that but I don't use Amplitube or Revalver or Overloud or even Guitar Rig that much, although I've experienced them and heard them sounding good. People seem to like the Fender on here and all over. I bet that's the biggest first choice purchase in the group buy. Revalver is great sounding and probably does distortion better than any of the plug-ins. There's plenty to choose from but I've never really got them to how I want but there's a million examples of people who do on youtube.

That's a good bet - I will go to UTube to see if I hear anything I like. I have noticed that Amplitube Fender does get good reviews - so I was surprised at how bad the demos sounded. I also immediately noticed that you cant use the sale to combine the input pedal with the Fender sims The Amplitube input pedal has some cool features that appear to possibly be useful to those of us who input midi with a midi guitar. I have yet to have get a guitar sound that I was satisfied with on DAW - period. I admit that I havent tried all that hard, but on tape it used to be as easy as putting a mic in front of the cab and setting the level. I am actually set up to do guitar recording experiments this week. Gonna A/B different mics on the same amp and try different tubes from the 12AX7 family in my mic preamp. Mike

I am not particularly looking for an accurate simulation of specific vintage gear, just some interesting and rich sounds. I have some otherwise dull-sounding guitar multisamples that begin to sound great as soon as they are put through these AmpliTube plugins.

It wouldn't be the first time that a company didnt bother to put good demos on their website for a product that has already gotten good word of mouth. I admit that with all the hype I was expecting a convincing simulation of the modeled amps. If I find something even reasonably interesting on UTube I'll dl the demo and give it a spin. Mike

Ha ha ha. I think the Twin Reverb sounded really close. The Metalhead was more bass heavy on the amplitube version (wich I liked but was not entirely true to the original) but that should be easily taken care of with an EQ. Overall vibe sounded very good to me, but as I said I'm no guitarist. Most important for me though is they make me get the sounds I'm after very quickly and ad that analogue grittyness that is much needed in my in the box DAW making the tracks sound more like a record and less like a sterile scientific laboratory. Mr Handsome, I'm already behind you maybe you should look over your shoulder... (muahahahahahahahahahahaha)

Did you have jampoints or something?

I finally got around to listening to some of those A/B demos of Amplitube and Revalver. I admit that they both sound OK - definately worth getting if you have trouble getting a good guitar sound into Sonar, like me. The Vibroverb demo was probably the most impressive - although I noted that they were using Fender reissue amps. The software inspired me to try some more Sonar guitar recording experiments. They were more successful than previous efforts. I was surprised to find that putting 12AX7's in my mic pre did not notably increase the gain even though they have a higher amplification factor than the 12AT7s that I was using - 100 vs 60. It did sound better though. I also discovered that the input transformers in my pre dont like guitar much. An old plug-in impedence matching XF into the unbalanced input sounded better. Mike

Someone will say, and I've read it many times, your exact statement with only Guitar Rig and Amplitube switching places. It happens with other software such as drum programmes, pianos, orchestras, basses and every other plug-in. So you're not missing out. You've found one you like. It's a familiar experience. Others feel the same about Revalver, PODfarm and Overloud. If you find one you like, then that's a great result. Most of these things are useable and it's a case of finding the one that hits the spot for you. If you've tried the demos, then you've eliminated any doubts and you know it's not the one for you.

With amplitube what I find difficult is reconciling what it's capable of and what I can make it sound like. I think it's a great product, but I find it very difficult to get the sounds I want out of it. Even with the Fender package, getting the shimmering cleans I want seems much tougher than it really should be. I find the number of places where I have to make gain decisions thoroughly confusing.
