Melodyne Editor... how do you install it while you have Plugin instances to continue using

I finally downloaded Melodyne Editor last night.

I saw a scary note that sort of indicates that installing it will deactivate my Melodyne Plugin.

So, If that's the case how do I migrate to Editor while maintaining several projects with Melodyne Plugin.

thanks,
mike

Aren't the projects (or waves or whatever) you did with M. Plugin saved separately from the Melodyne program itself?   I guess I was assuming it was just like an upgrade in any other program...your projects still open in the upgrade.  But I've never tried it, so I'm not sure...

I upgraded to Editor too. Editor is the new name for Plug-In now with the DNA.
    It works the same.
I always bounce to track after using Melodyne, then delete it from the FX Bin. So I didn't have any projects that were "using" Melodyne when I upgraded.

ME is supposed to import any existing work from the previous version, but I'd definitley make a back up of the session and files before you upgrade. Once you install editor you can't really go back any other way at least not easily.  Personally I wouldn't do the upgrade until an update to ME is released.

So, there is no going back without a restore?

Is editor still not ready fro prime time?

Right, if you upgrade, your old version will be uninstalled & deactivated and ME will load in place of & convert all your existing Melodyne files to a new version incompatible with the previous version.

The new version is pretty buggy.  I've been able to use it in smaller projects in monophonic mode without too many crashes/oddities, but polyphonic mode crashes all the time on me, even in the standalone.  Some are apparently using it without problem, but many aren't.  It wouldn't be a big deal to try it out and see except for how much hassle it is to go back to the old version.

How about if you create a restore point with Acronis True Image?

I guess you're ok unless you actually have to transfer to a new system and get an activation to your old plug in... which no longer exists once you upgrade?

    thanks, mike

Yeah that should work, since the old plug would still be registered and all the original files would be linked up again with the old plugin.

Celemony will reactivate the old plugin for you which will deactivate the new one, but if you didn't have an image to go back too, I'd be worried about the old plugin finding the old edit files assuming it copied the original files instead of just converting them to the new format.  I wish I had done an Image file before I upgraded. :)

I have the editor.... it does appear to be buggy... lots of crashes if I take an entire track and load it up...even mono. Poly stuff is hit and miss, and the poly mode doesn't really do like it should.....

I tried to edit a piano chord..... moved one note 1/2 step...sounded like crap. decided to envelope it out.

If you have the original disk, you should be able to uninstall editor and the install teh plug in. I might go back to teh plug in myself.   I seem to have forgotten how to spell "the".
