{track: Starter Set}

I made a new song, using a new DAW to replace our beloved P5

Virb went to a pay site, so I'm using SoundCloud

    Chill, man.  Well played, produced - nice ep.

    Learning a new DAW is time consuming - hell, keeping up with updates is bad enough.  "How do I do this now?"

    How do you like SoundCloud?  A lot of people seem to use it.

    Anyway, well done song.

    thanks
    not sure it's completely successful
    I'm trying to learn/use the chord 'system of jazz standards from 50-60 years ago and merge that with electronica -- not sure it really makes sense

    SoumndCloud is dead simple and will accept higher encodings than 128 -- which is nice. The free service limit is on time /space and is pretty generous > 1 hour of music

    Jan,

    I don't know if jazz electronica makes sense but it seems to work.  That is not really my thing but I can see it working - even a market for it.  Kinda chill out, kinda jazz but with an emphasis on electronics.  Whatever.  But the playing is very good and production is high value.  The ep and the funky guitar(?) were esp. nice.  I think it was a bang up job.

    Never been into Jazz but I can appreciate the multi layers and interplay between all of the component parts. I thought the snare was maybe too far left (but then I'm thinking traditional kit, and a traditional kit wouldn't be 12 feet wide). But if that was the intent, that's cool too! I don't like "rules". Good chill track though. Best of luck with the new DAW. Can I ask which one you've landed on?

     thanks Kevin
     I used this project to learn Live.  I believe this is my 3rd attempt to learn Live; the previous 2 were just sort of exploring
      A learning curve is its own lifeform -- once past the initial conceptual/architectural difference bump, things go pretty fast since a lot of Daws do similar things similarly and then a little bit further in and some of the more complex features diverge again. Right now, I'm a little lost in all the routing possibilities that Live provides, so I sense that I managed some things in a less than elegant manner than possible.

     Since this is a Cakewalk forum, let it be known I did buy the customer loyalty Sonar 8.5 offer and plan on learning that sometime as well.
