Am I the ONLY one who wants this feature?! No. And because this has been requested before, and because from a programming standpoint it would be trivially easy to implement, I am optimistic that it will indeed make it into this revision.

Here's a site advertising "SONAR X1 Producer". There have been rumors that the next version may begin a new naming convention, and "X1" has been floated before. This particular page does appear to be new. It says "NEW" at the top and has no photo (just "coming soon"). The features description is obviously contemporary (e.g. Transient Shaper and Tube Leveler are listed). However, no previously-unseen features are listed. No price is given. Was this page merely created by a clueless developer? Or do they know something they weren't supposed to announce yet? Here's a page advertising something called "Cakewalk SONAR X1 Essential". The new Home XL edition? It says that "Cakewalk's SONAR X1 Essential has a completely redesigned user interface..." and mentions something referred to as "the innovative Skylight interface". Hmm, just noticed it says "UNAVAILABLE. This product has been discontinued but may be available as a used item." Does anyone remember any old Cakewalk product called "SONAR X1"?

Twigman http://sonar-producer-edition.software.informer.com/17.3/ Sonar producer Edition 17.3 ??? so 2017's edition?? Nope. That's actually SONAR 8.3.somethingorother. If you hover your mouse over the SONARPDR.exe, it will give you the file version...which for 8.5.3 is 17.5.3.282. (I'm guessing the 282 is the build number.) I think the "17" is tracking versions all the way back to Cakewalk ProAudio (or before).

Sonar producer Edition 17.3 ??? The current internal version number is 17.5.3.282 Presumably, the next release's internal version number would be 18.something. EDIT: Oops, sorry Dan I didn't read your post before typing...

Doesn't look like V-Vocal or Audiosuite have been upgraded, though? Just looks like a GUI re-do - need more details.

Well I ran the links above through Google translate, which worked quite well. This bit of automated Japglish caught my eye however. "In addition, a newly developed channel strip "ProChannel" chip. Digital sound and sense Quirky, unique mixing / mastering provides" Quirky is one thing we do not need! Then there is this, which I really hope is a translation problem " incorporates many features and plug-ins and sound to produce phrases like groovy techno. " It's not something high on my priority list but some people will be happy because it looks like the interface has been re-vamped "To renew the user interface to work more efficiently. SONAR X1 series, while inheriting the traditional technology cultivated in the series, renewed user interface to suit the latest music production environment. You can do a new, efficient workflow." There do not seem to be a lot of added features and plugins. The Pro Channel is the only new one mentioned. The only major change in see in the bundled VSTi's is Studio Instruments is now included at all licence levels Elsewhere on the site Japanese version of SONAR 8.5 PRODUCER Upgrade Kit This product upgrade reception will be closed on November 5, 2010. Upgrade pricing appears to be 15,000 Yen + tax which is around $186
