Question for UAD/X1 Users.

Isn't the Pro channel kind of redundant if one already has the 1176 and SSL 4K UAD plugs? Except maybe for the EQ section?

Would you be so kind as to compare the 76 and 4K in Pro channel with the UAD plugs?

Thank you.

Yes. But I am holding off on X1 and can't help you with a test at this time. Could be its another flavor of the 1176 and SSL experience and is a good thing.

Here is the funny thing about the timing of the ProChannel. UA just released the Studer A800 and with that plug in on your channels or buss, the need for compression and EQ to control transients is greatly reduced in a mix. The need for the SSL "glue" or the 1176 fast action is just not as critical when using the A800 so the need for another version of these is greatly reduced for me.

Wanted to check in on this thread as I am wondering about a head to head comparison as well.

    Gear: A bunch of stuff.

    Earl,

I will endeavor to do that over the weekend.
As usual, I'll probably be a day late and a dollar short with my results.
