Official Maschine 1.6 Update.... (and 1.7 bug)

still does not play well with Sonar. On BOTH of my systems.

All my old projects will not play back vst's when I open them with 1.6. I downloaded the beta and created a report about the problem at the start of Feb, not heard any definitive answers about their progress since.

I know most people had issues with the beta and Sonar also, how is the official update working for you?

Same Prob with the 1.6 update.  The latency is about 5 sec one minute and about 20 ms the next. I bought Maschine to put down live drums in Sonar. Maybe Ableton will work better. I am getting sick of soft synths in Sonar acting buggy too.

Still on 1.5.1 now.....waiting for feedbacks ......are you guyz experiencing latency issues ? even with 1.5 ?

I nticed that i have to go 128sample to be confortable with mashine ....this is not sonar and vst , this is maschine drivers !!! because it's in fact a control surface that send and receive ...this process kinda increase latency ...

Same thing in 1.5  I thought 1.6 would be better. I may have a prob with the whole - Win7 64 , Delta1010lt, ASIO  Thing. I thought the X1b patch fixed that.  I am new to Maschine so I will keep on trying.

I have a small latency (let's say a little bigger than my otha controllers ahave) but sonar 8.5 and X1 working well with maschine

    Windows 7 32bits here

Are you using sonar 64 ? if yes bit bridge for maschine ? that could be the issue .....

FYI- I am getting the craziest problem with Maschine and X1.  When I use the audio metronome and push record, maschine runs exactly 1 measure behind.  Meaning, when I het the pad to play the sound, the sound does not play until 1 measure later.  It is not a latency issue.  If I switch the metronome to Midi, it works fine.  Also, as long as I am hit PLAY in Sonar, everything lines up great.  I hit stop, hit record....bam.....maschine 1 measure behind.  I finally bought Studio One and everything works great.  Just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

AArgg, I used to know the answer to this problem ... but I forgot.

I use Maschine almost every day of my life (version 1.6 at this time).    I haven't had issues with it.

What bit depth and sample rate are you working at in Sonar?

Did you run Maschine in standalone mode after first installing the 1.6 update to check the settings?  I believe this is required.

Did you have this problem prior to 1.6?

I'll see if i can look over notes and find the "solution" but maybe some of your answers will also shake out my memory.

Crap.  I would kiss your face if you could fix this.  I know you use Maschine alot....have seen you on the NI forums.

Problem happens at any bit rate/sample depth.  Yes, I ran standalone before opening in X1.  The problem DOES NOT HAPPEN until I load the latest version of Maschine.

This would allow me to jump back into Sonar .......help me dude!

Have you contacted NI?   I know they've had some issues with Sonar (and the impression I got was there's no love loss there), but they may have a quick solution for you.

Also - the 1.6 update now has 16 Outputs (prior versions had 8) and there was some issue with Sonar handling that (it doesn't).

I seem to remember we had to go into PluginManager and change the ins/outs to "2" for some reason to solve some problems with Maschine.  I'm not sure if it applies to X1 or not.

Funny how us humans are so different at times.   I use Maschine in Sonar almost every day of my life without problems.
So a lot of issues really do depend on system configuration and user knowledge of how to actually use the devices/applications.

The problem mentioned in this thread has happened to others and the solution was to make sure the "count-in" setup in Sonar for its metronome was "audible" other wise it would seem to be off by 1 bar.

I'm not sure this is the same problem needing the same solution though.

    I found the issue , i totally forgot to share  ... :

When the 1.6 update came , we have now 8 more channels ...so any vst inserted after maschine will have a maschine output on instead of its own !!

This is beacuse sonar see ouptouts as numbers and not objects ...(don'tif i'm, clear)

So to solve it simply open your old 1.5 project and reaffect the outputs of vst inserted after maschine ...

Those who using maschine 1.6 from start have no isssues ...of course

Ah - yes, I forgot about that (since I solved that already for myself awhile back and just forgot);  but I'm not sure that affects the count-in problem.

Zo, no I didn't buy a few of the Maschine expansions.  Upon listening to them, nothing appealed to me.   A lot of the expansion stuff reminds me of other sound packs from vendors where they take one or two 'new' sounds and then add 15 more by just adding a little reverb, or changing a filter setting, etc.  IOW, not really a whole lot of "new" but a lot of marketing hype.

If they release an expansion pack that really adds something new to my HUGE collection of drum sounds, then I might buy into it.

I'm more careful these days since so much stuff is just re-hashed and not really 'new' or better.
I understand companies are trying to make a few bucks, and I certainly spend a lot on music related purchases all year long, but I also want value for my buck.

Thanks Zo, that output problem makes perfect sense. I kept the 1.5 .dll's handy to replace in my vst folder when needing to open an older project. guess i can toss those now. I think this issue was brought up before... concerning machines delayed playback when entering record mode with a count in. I am still getting silence from machine until 2 bars in when it will finally start playing. Any thoughts?

Is this while using the pads to trigger the sounds in Maschine but record them to a MIDI track in Sonar?   OR are you trying to record a pattern IN Maschine?

    Re:Official Maschine 1.6 Update.... 2011/10/26 17:48:55 (permalink)
sorry, will explain further...... this is when hitting R to record any other soft synth in Sonar, and concerns the playback of Maschines sequencer. Whenever i hit R and have a four bar count in, the Sonar session plays back and allows me to record normally, however Maschine will not start playing until 2 bar into the Sonar project and will then start playing from bar 0. So essentially I hear no drums for the first two bars, and then they play in sync but two bars behind. Playing normally is not an issue, only when I try to record a stopped position. I can hit space then enter record mode and everything is fine.

video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56HVf6HkP6k Hitting R you hear no percussion after the session starts playing, despite seeing maschines sequencer move. you hear it come in at bar 2 and then compensate for missing the first bar by continuing to play after hitting stop. i then turned off the count in and hit r and maschine played back normally without a delay.

will try to reproduce when i get back at home on saturday ..... but  when you hit play then stop then record , is it happening ...?
what is strange is that it contuniues playback after you stop ....do you have a count in in the record option in sonar metronome option , i don't see it well .....as i don't have this might be why i never seen it on my set up ;)

EDIT : i just rewtched the video .....change the countdown to 2 bars just to see if it works ...also have you tried not satrting at 1 mesure but make project construction (looping) from let's say the 4 th bars ..?

Can you try setting the metronome option to NOT play during Playback (keep it on for record)?
That's the way I have mine setup - and I never have a problem.

I realize some people like a metronome during playback ...  I personally don't.

But I'm wondering if this is where the problem is.

    Re:Official Maschine 1.6 Update.... 2011/10/26 20:47:06 (permalink)
thanks guys. its an interesting bug.............. Trying different scenarios it appears the delayed playback from maschine only happens when there is a record count in enabled. I increased the count in from 1 to 2 which doubled the amount of time it took for maschine to start playing and doubled the amount of time it continued to play after stopping sonars sequencer... essentially exaggerating the problem. This problem is not a huge deal as there are plenty of ways to work around it as I have been doing, but it would be nice to have it resolved. I will open up a NI bug report i think.

Heard back from NI again.... "This issue seems to be caused by a bug in the current version of the application. Thanks for your report. We have referred this issue to our developers and will try to fix it in a future version. As a workaround you can disable the metronome count in."

FWIW, there was a message on the forum here somewhere stating there's a bug in Sonar with regard to synths that use MIDI OUT enabled (such as Maschine).   You might want to search for it.

Just wanted to bump this thread.  Anyone (ZO or perfectprint? ever find a solution to this?  It is really keeping me out of Sonar.
