Roland Octacapture Rebate copy of Sonar X2 Studio resellable?
Apologies I am moving this to its own thread b/c I am not sure it is being noticed at the bottom of the old thread that I buried this question in. Apologies to those who may have already viewed it... I've been hesitant about spending the bucks for a Roland Octacapture so have been kind of in a stalling pattern. I know I can get a few bucks knocked off the $700 retail at my local GC. But that still puts it at over $600 with tax :-( So I went to see if there are any rebates from Roland and see that Roland is running a rebate for a copy of Sonar X2 Studio with it. Since I already own X2 Producer I am hoping that I can resell this copy somewhere (Ebay or Craigslist). Does anyone know if a rebate copy of Sonar X2 is sellable/transferrable? And has anyone had any success doing this? Thanks so much, Ryan

I would say yes. I did not sell mine but gave it to a buddy of mine. I got the serial and had him register it. It's in his name now.

I would say if its not been registered, then you can do what you want with it. After all, you can buy Sonar and give it as a gift as long as you didn't register it before you gave it as a gift. Once you've installed it and registered it, you own the license and its non-transferable.

Possibly not. Assuming that it's an OEM copy then the software could be tied with the hardware, much like Windows coming with a new PC. It's also possible the software has a dependency with the hardware being installed (unlikely but I've seen it happen many times with other software supplied with hardware, notably graphics cards). The only real way to find out is to read the license agreement supplied with the software. You could also try contacting Roland.

Ok thanks. I'll ask Cakewalk if this a full retail copy as opposed to OEM. Thanks, Ryan
