A Primer for PAINTING patterns in PRV
I saw the video of copying a pattern of midi notes and then just painting this pattern instead of pasting exactly at the beginning of measures and thought that would be great. So, of course, I had a pattern of notes that I wanted to copy into other measures of the same track... and after I copied the pattern, I went to the PAINT mode and tried to PAINT the pattern across many measure, SONAR completely LOCKED UP. I think perhaps I was doing it wrong so, is there anyone out there that can point me to a PRIMER on how to perform this manuever so I can try it again? Thanks in advance, Jim

Hi Jim- I can repro this. It works for me in Track View, but in PRV I get the hang as you described. Selected some notes, chose Pattern Tool, dragged to copy and SONARPLT went non-responsive. -Susan

Ugh. When I restarted SONAR with the same project and tried it again, it worked, so this might be one of those "hard to repro" things. I hadn't done much with this test project, so hopefully I can rebuild it from scratch. -Susan

yeah...it locked on me too. "Sonar is unresponsive". Plus, can you only do one track at a time? I wasn't able to grab 4 bars, say of my entire project and paint it elsewhere.

It does seem it's limited to one track at a time. -Susan

It's still a very cool feature, though, IMO. I like being able to just select a file in the Media Browser and paint it/roll it back in a track without having to import it. The PRV glitch needs to be fixed, of course. -Susan

It "would" work...but after fiddling with it for a bit, to try and get more "painted"...it would become unresponsive. I too saw the video and had to immediately try it out. Cool feature and will be glad when it's sorted out!

I've used the midi painting a few times and haven't had this happen yet. I'll use it some more (hopefully I get a chance to today) and see if I can reproduce this.

I tried it a day ago and it was working as expected. Today I think I'm losing it. I have a drum synth with audio track and midi track. I go to media browser and select a MIDI drum pattern. I select "Draw Pattern" and get a paint roller cursor which can paint the MIDI pattern in the synth audio track, but no paint roller when I move to the MIDI track and can't paint there. Of course the MIDI pattern does nothing in the synth audio track. What am I doing wrong?

I'm unable to reproduce this so far. Is this happening for you guys in brand new projects? Does track count/zoom settings seem to affect this for anybody? Is the PRV docked or undocked? Just looking for more info so we can try to repro this consistently. Thanks! Joe

Hi Alex- I started with a new project and again was unable to repro it. It's only happened here once, which doesn't mean it won't again, but I can't get it to fail now. -Susan
