Notepad for the Pro Channel

I have reams of paper filled with ideas and notes on tracks. It would be great to just open up the pro channel and type the notes into the program. I could access them anytime in the future, and save on space.

A deep chesty bawl echoes from rimrock to rimrock, rolls down the mountain, and fades into the far blackness of the night. It is an outburst of wild defiant sorrow, and of contempt for all the adversities of the world. - Aldo Leopold

Just curious why the Prochannel? Currently there are a few places where notes can be entered already. There have been requests to have more notes, and notes which appear in the marker view (like in SoundCloud,eg). I never considered Pro Channel my ideal spot for notes (not to downplay the idea at all- just wondering).

One place for track notes is the Description field in the Track Tab of the Inspector

That's a good place for all track related info (e.g. preamp settings used) - been there for a while but only just started using it myself ...

I never mess with the track view so didn't see it. So, it already has it! Thanks.

I just recently started using it as well.
It has turned out to be a handy feature since I'm constantly wanting to jot down something for later.

If you use the "Info" box a lot (I don't) you can also create a Custom Button for it in the Custom Module of the Control Bar.

Now that there are so many places to put notes, finding them could be tricky; how about a note summary or compile function, i.e. a screen to show where every note is, and what it says?  (may be it could hyperlink to the track).

Great tip! I use info a lot, but hardly ever use the custom buttons. Now they will be productive citizens of my SONAR society.

I never thought using a custom button for project notes - and - I didn't realize we could type in folder notes. I did know about the track notes, but the folder notes got by me. I've already started using them...

There are a few VST notes plugins even a free one. If you create an fx chain then you can use the notes in the ProChannel as you wanted.

You're welcome. In fairness to Scook, he already mentioned Project/Info - I missed it in his first post. So I didn't really add anything except the custom button, which I picked up from somebody else in another thread. May have been Scook, as he knows all, sees all. LOL.
