Sonar Platinum One Time Purchase
I'm using Sonar X3 Producer and considering upgrading to Platinum with a one time purchase, but I couldn't find any explanation of how the "one time" purchase works. Does that mean that I will get free updates as they are released indefinitely into the future, or does updating stop after a period of time?

If you make the one time payment, you are entitled to all updates & content released for the next 12 months

At the moment releases are monthly, so if you get to month 12 and a release that fixes an issue, but creates a different problem that wasn't bearable, you'd role back to month 11. When Month 13 fixes the unbearable issue, you need to sign up again to appreciate it.

I need to revisit this. I upgraded to Platinum from X3, but I don't see the updates in my store account or in the Command Center....

Unlike the SONAR X series and older which provided separate updates on the support page, updates to the new SONAR are usually newer versions of the same installers. When an update is available the indicator on the line item in the Command Center will change from green to yellow. Should a new installer be created, the line item in the Command Center will show red.

If you installed without using CCC, you'll have to check the version in Help>About against the version available for download in your store account. There is no visible indication of an update in the store without selecting Sonar as if you're planning to download it. Then the version becomes visible for manual comparison with your installed version.

Thanks. I do have a Yellow light for Platinum, for the Allston update. Everything else is red, I guess because I upgraded from X3 and only installed Platinum and didn't re-install all of the synths and plugins etc. When I select 'Platinum' in CC there are three options: 'Install All' 'Install' 'Launch' Just watched a Cakewalk tutorial on this. It says 'Install All' installs everything in the Parent Product and that 'Install' will install just the Parent Product. The 'Launch' option doesn't show up in the CC on the video, but I assume selecting that will actually launch the application? So, is that how the updates are installed? To install an update like Allston, I'll select 'Platinum' and then select 'Install.' Anyone know if the installer overwrites all of the folder locations. That's happened to me before even if I checked 'Keep Settings' or whatever the option was. Not a show stopper, but it is a pain.

Yes. The "Install ALL" option installs the top level and all the children. I believe this option will go away when/if you install any of the children. The "Install" option installs the currently select line item. "Launch" runs SONAR or whatever line item offers the Launch button You do not have a complete Platinum install if you only installed the "SONAR Platinum" line item. You do not need to install all the children as many have not changed from X3. These installers are unique to Platinum: - Anderton Collection
- Box Digital Labs ProChannel Collection
- NYC Showroom Impulses
- SONAR Local Documentation
- Brian Hardgroove Collection - this one is probably located above the SONAR Platinum installer.
Click on an installer to see a description on the right hand side of the Command Center. Updates have been released every month. For each update there has been an email and a forum announcement with a link to an ezine about the release. The updates are also detailed in the help and http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Whats-New I have not lost my config applying any of the updates.
