Need To Upgrade

I have an old version of Guitar Tracks Pro 2.0 that I really liked.  Once I got it all set up I could record things really easily and quickly. The computer I used it on stopped working so I tried using it on my newer laptop. The interface never worked right so I bought a Scarlett 2i2 USB interface. I never did get it all working correctly. Then that laptop died.  I am trying to get it all working on my new laptop. Its an HP Z book with a Core i7. I installed GT and nothing works right.  I can record in stereo mode but only one channel and it does not play back.  I can record in mono on the right channel and it will play back. Metronome does not play during record and is sporadic during playback.
I believe that the program may just be too old. The Scarlett came with a free version of Ableton Live, which I find impossible to use.
What is the best equivalent product to my old GT Pro?
Thanks!

Absolutely,  the new Home Studio is your best bet. You can always upgrade later if you find you want more features.
HS is based on the same core platform as the 3 other versions.  Mostly as you spend more you get more synths and plug ins. But then there's lots of freebies you can add too.

Another plug for Home Studio.  I had GT Pro 3 (and 4) and Home Studio will do everything you want and then some (it has midi capability which I don't think GTPro 2 or 3 had).

Hi. I agree with the others that HS 2016 is the way to go from here. If you feel adventurous you might try SONAR Artist. You can always Demo the products before buying.
    All the best.

I go for the gusto myself using Sonar Platinum here but I have to say, for the price, 35 bucks for Sonar Home studio,
makes me wonder how Cakewalk is making any money with that version.
Every thing I've seen on it so far looks really cool.
I paid 99.00 for Sonar Home studio 7 XL back in 2010 (as a teaching tool for my kids). So to see HS now at 35 bucks just behooves me.
