Producer 8.5.3 and windows 10pro

I'm having trouble running Sonar Producer 8.5 on the latest windows 10 pro. It installs, but when I boot it up, it loads drivers, vst's ect. then wants to run windows installer for 30 min's. I get a message; install server not responding, then the program opens. Just checkin in to see if anyone has any answers. and reading all the flack about Sonar Platinum, I'm not in a big rush to jump into that pile. thanks for reading....

I'd say most people are running the latest version of Sonar without any issues on Windows 10. With 8.5.3 you are going to start and get more and more problems.

8.5 will likely continue to run on Win 10 for the rest of your life, so don't feel compelled to upgrade if it's doing the job for you. (Although the current product is very dependable. Remember, you only hear on the forum from people who are having problems. You almost never see a post that says "everything's working smoothly and has for years".)

Could you post a screenshot of the installer message you're getting?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Your worried about running the newest version of Sonar on an operating system it was designed for....
Yet your inquiring about running Sonar 8 on an unsupported versions of windows ?

Let me take a second to let that sink in.

Reminds me of when I installed Cakewalk Pro Audio on Windows 7 to load up some older projects.
Did it work ? Yes. Did it work completely ? No.
I had crashes, some plug ins wouldn't load, it was unpredictable.

one should bear in mind that specific windows versions requirement is quite recent, ancient stuff that was built for "win32 api" will probably run "forever", it's more the recent trend of reliance on specific .net components that spoils the legacy party

A good portion of Problems relating to older software that was built to run on XP can be attributed to UAC controls.
IE- Starting with Windows 7 you will need to physically run the installer as administrator.

Wow! thanks for the amazing feedback. As far as the screen shot......... I simply get a white box after 25-30 min's that says; installer not responding, ok or cancel.  When I hit cancel Sonar appears.
Thanks to pwalpwal for reminding me to install the 2 updates, just did that this morning. I'm letting it run the 30 min. routine now and in the event viewer, applications window I see under level, information and under source, I see "restartmanager" right clicking on this it seems I could give it a task to perform............?
That's all I got for now on the situation, and Chuckybaby your right... not a lot of folks are writing in here to praise anything. I'd like to go platinum but just missed a big discount so maybe at the next holiday sale. But everything worked great on 10 home premium on a lesser capable PC. with FL 12 running as a VST pluging and Stienberger Virtual Guitarist, so I'm just sayin............whahappeneddd? Thanks gang

FL12 is a brand new DAW and is supposed to run on windows 10. So not sure I understand that.. But what ever you end up doing, I wish you the very best.
