Bigger files on the iPod?

Hi guys! I just bought an iPod Classic 80 Gb and I notice it is formatted with the FAT32 file system, which is limited to 4 Gb per file. I would like to use it for transfer of OMF files which can easily get bigger than that.

Does anybody know whether it be possible to reformat the unit as NTFS and reinstall the software or would that screw it up?

    I don't know how Apple does that.. they have a function in iTunes where you can set how much space is used for music and how much is used for songs. However, I think it's still one big partition. I it were two partitions you might be able to reformat one but I don't think it is.

    What I would do is zip up the OMF file and set the volume size to less then 4 gig each. That way you can unzip it when you get it to the other computer and puff it back up.
