field daze
Hi, This is a dobro/guitar tune I've been working on. I think ( hope ) it's done but I could be living in a fool's paradise...if you've got a few minutes give it a listen and let me know. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11821352 Thanks!

If you're living in a fool's paradise, make room for me. This is so pristine that I don't know where to start. You are truly a master, and I hope you get a lot of hits for this.

Impossible not to like a song with a dobro, AND a mandolin! My only complaint is, I had the buds in, and the volume all the way up, and I ripped them out of my head when it started and uttered an expletive of some kind. When I turned it down and listened again, it was a thing of beauty. And a thing of beauty is a joy forever...

Gary, Your songs always amaze me. Tell me you only used a 3 band eq and a Radio Shack mic and I'll be flabbergasted. LOL Great sounding stuff Gary!

Hey Gary FANTASTIC performance/mix as always! The dobro sounds so clear and full in this piece. Cool bass line. Funny you should make a dobro tune. The local guitar store in my town has a really nice sounding used Wetcher, square neck dobro. The wife gave me the green light to purchase it. Not knowing a thing about dobros I got cold feet spending that kind of money on a instrument I can't play. After stalling for a week I went to buy it anyway and it was gone. A sign that I should leave the dobro to muscians such as yourself who can make that guitar sing. A really wonderful piece of music, Gary! Later, Kev P.S. . . I know hes not playing a dobro when I took this photo but Richie Owens is a FANTASTIC dobro player himself. He was nice enough to give my girls a little demo when visiting his store in Nashville. The store has an awesome collection of dobros/resonator guitars. https://www.facebook.com/TheOldTimePickinParlor/timeline

Nice tune.... guitars and mandolins.....and dobro's. What's not to like.... it starts out country and switches to a light jazz for a time.... so very nice. A complete pleasure to hear.

drumstixkev The store has an awesome collection of dobros/resonator guitars. I was in a store in Amsterdam that hand some resonated guitars? I don't think you ever could have cleaned that stuff off of them.

Lynn: Hi Lynn, thanks for listening and commenting. Glad you liked the tune. I appreciate your time and the positive feedback. The Band19: Hi Robby, how are you? Great to hear from a fellow dobroist (is that a word?). Careful with those earbuds, though. They always fall out of my ears so I couldn't use them if I wanted to but I think it's always good to avoid sticking things in our ears...especially loud things Thanks for listening...glad you thought it was a 'thing of beauty'. Thatsastrat: Tell me you only used a 3 band eq and a Radio Shack mic haha! Well, I am a low budget guy but I did upgrade from my Radio Shack mic recently...Thanks for the listen and the kind words, Bruce. Always great to hear from you. Rikkie: Hey Rik. Thanks very much! Glad I could get your day off to a good start drumstixkev: Hi Kev, sorry to hear you missed the opportunity to pick up the Wetcher but I don't think it's sign you shouldn't get one...it's just a sign you shouldn't WAIT to get one There are lots of good, affordable brands out there and I'm sure you would pick it up quickly. Also...when were you in Nashville? I live in Nashville...I wish I had known you were visiting...anyway, let me know next time you're in town and thanks, as always, for listening and for the kind comments.

Guitarhacker: it starts out country and switches to a light jazz Hi Herb. Yea, it started out as an attempt at a bluegrass tune but I can't play that stuff well enough to make it interesting so I had to switch gears after a minute or so Thanks for listening and commenting, glad you liked it. BIABDude: Hi 'Dude. Thanks very much for the '+1's'...much appreciated. bapu: This will probably be nice when you finish it That's the problem with DAW's...nothing's ever really finished Thanks for checking out the tune, Ed. Glad you liked it and I appreciate the positive comments. markno999: Hi Mark. Thanks for listening and taking to time to leave a comment. I'm glad you liked the tune, the psuedo-jazz elements and the perfomance. timidi: Hi Tim. Thank you, sir. I appreciate the listen and the kind words.

Wow - this is fantastic. It's like aural honey. So smooth. On a technical note, do you have a booth? It sounds as though it was recorded in a padded cell in outer space.

The Band19: I was in a store in Amsterdam that hand some resonated guitars? I don't think you ever could have cleaned that stuff off of them. Must have been from all the 'smokin' guitar solos? Janet: Thank you! I agree...Fool's Paradise does seem like a good name for a song...haha! I'll race ya' to see who can come up with a song first... notnat: Hi Frank. Thanks very much, man. It's always gratifying to hear from a musician of your caliber. Much appreciated. paulo: Hi Paulo. Thanks for checking out the tune and for the kind words. I don't usually get bored, by the way, because I'm too busy going back to fix my screw ups so I can fool people into thinking I play better than I actually do Scottytunes: Hey Scotty. How are ya'? Great, as always, to hear from you. Glad you liked the tune and I appreciate the positive comments on the arrangement and performances. daryl1968: On a technical note, do you have a booth? It sounds as though it was recorded in a padded cell in outer space. haha! I love that. No booth...just the corner of a spare bedroom but, man, the idea of a padded cell in outer space is strangely appealing, for some reason. Thanks for listening and for the kind words. Makke: Hi Makke. Thank you! Glad you liked the tune.

ABeautifulVirus: Hi Daren. Thanks very much. Allmans/Dead isn't a comparison that I'd have thought of but, as a fan of both bands, it's a huge compliment to me and I appreciate it. evadianepug: Hey Warren, how are you? Hope you've had a great Summer and that 'Life Is Good'! (see what I did there?). Thanks for stopping by and checking out the tune. I'm glad you liked it. I look forward to hearing some new Pugtones music soon.
