CupCake 2.3 now available for download.

I should say an update and reboot for a previous utility SonarUtils for plugin information. Now called Cupcake 2.

See the link in my signature or go to the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Support our local developers by checking out their programs. Why not write a review so those that haven't tried them yet are encouraged to do so.

Edit. After a few more tests, version 2.3 has all the fixes.

I was eagerly attempting to run today's version of Cupcake ... but can't!

I downloaded it from the Sonar Shared Drive (OneDrive), extracted it into it's own folder which has the app and two dll's.  But no matter how I try to run it (double-click CupCake.exe, right-click and run as administrator, different compatibility modes) all that happens is the folder (window containing the app) that I'm invoking from losing focus for a moment, and then coming back to the front.  I've waited up to 5 minutes for something to appear.  I did have SideChain Mixer installed at the beginning, but removed that after reading about a potential incompatibility with that VST.  I'm running Windows 8.1 (x64), Sonar Platinum (x64), and have .NET 4.5.X (sorry, I don't recall what the "X" was) installed.

Is there something else I need to do?  Do the dll's belong anywhere specific?

    Thanks for your help,
    Pete

No. Apparently there was a bug. Since then there is a version 3 that I've uploaded. The developer says he's fixed the problem but I haven't had the chance to test it yet. Feel free to test and let me know your results.

There could be a issue if you have Waves plugins installed.

Thanks - hope it's useful for people.  It's hard to test for "unusual" situations when you don't have the same type of plug-ins as other people (in this case it was some VST3/shell plug-ins) so there's a bit of trial and error (with thanks to Mudgel for testing too).

I've got a further update coming which should make the menus more manageable too.

And it'll also dedupe/de-stem repeated plugin scan paths as per http://forum.cakewalk.com/Solved-Plugins-Fail-VST-Scan-After-Years-of-Working-Fine-and-Reinstallation-m3254418.aspx

(just got that working this morning - it's a non-trivial but elegant piece of code in the end to do it).

There's been a further update to CupCake 2 which is now available for download. Once opened just select the help tab for an explanaition of all the features. You can now also rename ProChannel plugins as well as other VSTs. These changes can be backed up and restored.

An American TV show was talking about some chef who really disliked the way Aussies make hamburgers and asked what do they (Aussies) have between their buns. I'll leave it to you to answer that one. And it's not cupcakes.

If you were serious about wanting to get cupcake just use the link in my signature, but you probably know that.

Re: New Utility for use with Sonar 2015/08/05 15:16:52 (permalink)
Updated to 2.4 (which I think Mr Mudgel has dealt with), but there's a slightly enhanced version as of this morning at https://www.dropbox.com/s/fqu3ze2fglif7es/CupCake2.4.zip?dl=0

Couple of changes (in help tab where necessary):
    - Option to auto-clean "bad" files and VST paths on startup
    - Option to auto-scan VSTs on startup
    - "Better" (in my opinion!) display of recent files
    - A few performance optimisations
