firebugs - first tune

OK, I'll throw this one up for review. It the first tune we've done in HS. Your constructive criticism is appreciated! It's "At The Drive In" found at:

Catchy tune - a nice 50's groove, especially with doo-wop backing vocals. I think the main vocals need to come up front more, especially when the backing vocals kick in as they overpower the lead vox. I like it!

rodman1971 - Thanks for the kind words and the perspective. I agree about the background vocals. I was thinking about that while I was finalizing the mix. I should have gone with my gut and mixed them lower before.

    Hey Firebug,
Cool song. I really liked the harmonies. Good guitar tone as well. How did you record the git? I heard some timing issues in the first 30 seconds. I would check on that. Seems like one of the guitars were off beat. Solid first draft.

I second the motion for tweaking the intro. Great tune though.

Thanks for the input! Aaargh, I can't get anything by the sharpies here! I've also felt that the timing was off for just a smidge there at the beginning. I've tried a few workarounds other than recording the guitar again. That distorto rhythm guitar is the only instrument that the singer/songwriter played on the piece. I did everything else, including BG Vox. So I was reluctant to trash that guitar, but I guess I oughta just do it myself and see if he notices.

Mitch - The lead guitar was a Strat with a Duncan '57 PAF in the bridge through my Digitech RP200 with a setting I twiddled. The track was processed through the Anwidasoft free DXReverb light 2.0.

I agree with everything Mitch said.

The best is always yet to come. Now...shut up and make some noise!
