fit improvisation: "required tempo exceeds available range"

I've recorded some string parts in midi along side a wave form. Now I want to score out the midi parts. The problem is the tempo is just the sonar default of 100. So, I've recorded a reference track with nothing but single events on the downbeats, made sure the first beat is on 1:01:000, highlighted the track, selected "fit improvisation" and I keep on getting a "required tempo exceeds available range" error. What am I doing wrong?! Please help!!!!

Yes, I'm using 3.1.1
However, the song should be somewhere between 73 & 76 bpm. Nowhere near 1000. The project right now has a 100 bpm setting. I would think this would be a very easy thing to do.

I went ahead and copied the "reference" track to a new project without anything else in it with the same 100bpm setting and it still gives me this error. There are no other events going on in the track. I am supposed to tap "1, 2, 3, 4" right? Not just "1, 1, 1, 1"

Usually whenever this has happened to me it was normally a missed beat or an unintended double hit somewhere in the track (sonar is very picky about this...) otherwise it has always worked well for me.
