freezing loses FX?

It appears that freezing a track does not include the FX?
EG the compression and VX64 both went gray and do not seem to be working on playback?
I am having dropouts during editing and playback and thought I'd freeze trax to help take a load off, but have not done this before.
Anything else to consider as a result of freezing?
Thanks
Glenn

Freezing a track freezes the fx bin too, freezing a synth does not freeze the fx bin.

    Thanks,
These were not synth trax but the FX bin (side) compression was grayed out and did not work on play back.
Does it mean I can't continue to mix new trax and include frozen trax?
I hear them, but not the way they were set up.

Freezing a track should include any FX on the track, both in the FX bin and in the ProChannel.

What type of track are you freezing, and how are you freezing it?

if you're sidechaining compression, turn off the compressor then freeze the track, then right-click the fx bin and uncheck bypass bin and turn the compressor back on.   alternatively you could solo the audio track and the sidechain key and bounce to track.  since sidechaining requires two or more audio sources, freezing a single track won't yield the same results.  you could also throw the sidechain and fx on a bus then freeze the audio track that's running to the bus.

We must have posted at same time, and I've just seen your reply.

    Is the compressor sidechained?

If you are running out of resources while mixing, try raising latency, archive unused tracks and freeze synths to free up resources.

Ah ok, I have not frozen the synths as I was working on them.

Yes it was side chained compression that was not working.
I'll try the off/on trick you suggest,.

In that case I think swamptooth's suggestion is the only solution.
