from Microsoft, re "audiodg.exe"

A memory leak issue occurs in the Audiodg.exe process when you play audio on a computer that is running Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008

[edit] this is probably old info ... I just just watching the process called audiodg in task manager while Everett was frozen.    Looks like a new version got put on my computer fairly recently, not by me so most likely by our cw friends.

Microsoft had made a hotfix for this.  It's not simply playing audio, it's using the PlaySound api to play audio.
We don't do that, not do we install or update that component.
Anyway, Microsoft's hotfix claims to fix this.
