I believe the compressors, eq and fx (reverb/delay) can be printed, but I am not 100% certain on that.

I don't have the manual in front of me, but I think the setting is called "To USB" and has a choice of "pre eq & post eq". I don't think EQ is all it controls, I think it really means "pre fx & post fx" which would include the comp.

I always record dry, so I have not tried it, therefore I can't be positive on that answer!

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

    thanks coda,
i found what you described at the second to last choice in the utility menu (to usb   post/pre eq).

the default setting is post eq (reaches sonar/host).
this setting affects the compressor as well as the eq, but the manual says nothing about reverb. i would imagine that since the eq and comp are on the same button, it would not have anything to do with the reverb.

i've been recording straight to sonar dry as well, but have been wondering about using a bit of light comp on the way in to just knock down some of the higher peaks and save an unforeseen clip and i like the idea of multiple layers of more subtle compression. it's good to know it can be done, but since the onboard comp doesn't have gain reduction metering, it is wise to be familiar with the ideal settings before attempting this on any significant tracks. not being able to print reverb is really no big deal, no reason to have to do it that i know of.

just as a side note, i think all three - eq,comp, rev - if used, would be "hardwire" recorded to the sd card.

    thanks again.

I had a chance to play with this myself today, and it seems you are right.

The EQ and Comp are both printed, but the delay/reverb did not. That's fine, as the delay/reverb is so limited I'm not sure I would ever want it. I do find the compressor works a lot nicer than I expected it to. I may have to start using that under certain circumstances.

Thanks for your insight on this. Have a great weekend.

    thanks for confirming that coda.
i used the onboard comp a few times singing live with a hard classic rock band and i too was pleasantly surprised, i just wished there was a g/r meter. the pre was very good for live vox with a 57 or 58 and even better with a beta 58. cuts the mix nicely.

    thanks again, rock on.
