frustrated

any help is appreciated... i'm finding that by the time i am able to get everything turned on and working well my creative juices have dried up///
 
i have a dell laptop running vista, a presonus firebox audio interface,, and just ditched my studio one software for guitar tracks pro'''
im having tremendous difficulty setting up the audio config...
whats happening,,, some recording of guitar is out of one speaker only...
how do you get the metronome from recording on the tracks??
why is it that when i go to add a track i record over the existing track and both recordings are on a single track...
yours truly,,,, techy challenged.
