i am wondering how i get my fsb speed up on my daw.
my specs are below in my signature, is it the ram that determines the fsb speed or the mobo or both lol, i am still learning about computers. i believe my board supports 1066 fsb speed and im running 800 fsb. any help would be great thanks tim

    It's the board/bios

The memory goes along for the ride... if it can keep up. Some boards allow you to bring up the fsb while limiting the effect on the memory speed so you can get as fast a fsb as possible without out pacing the memory's capability.

    best regards,
    mike

thanks for the super fast and knowledgeable response mike,
how would i find out if my board supports bringing the fsb speed up without pacing my memory?
but turning the fsb speed up is a setting in bios?
    thanks mike

    sorry for all the questions,
is there pros and cons to overclocking fsb speed?
im running ddr2 800 4 gigs of super talent ram 4x1 gig strips.
and also is there usually cons to overclocking cpu and will it help performance in sonar 7 pe at all.
ive got some projects with lots of effects and software synths starting to get me in the red on cpu meters.
i did turn off file indexing on all drives which i was told this would help some.
i just dont wanna burn anything up for very little benefit towards the cpu cycles i am expending.
    any suggestions would be grand.
