getting my foot pedal to control midi CC data

Hi,

How would I go about setting up my foot pedal to control midi CC data (specifically CC 11).  I see that data is coming in, cause when I press it, I see the midi signal in the track go off.  Also, the controller is hooked up to my keyboard

Thanks,

Mathew

Is it outputting CC 11 MIDI messages?

Most Soft Synths have a MIDI learn function. Though the method tends to synth s-p-e-cific (Hyphens because the stupid forum software assumes that S P E C is me being racist)

What synth are you try to control expression on?

I have a video in my signature which may help.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I'm trying to do it with Play for Hollywood strings.  So there isn't a button to hit midi learn on.  I will check out the video when I get home, ty

Yep. If it works with act, you should be able to control it with your pedal.

Question though, it doesn't have a separate midi input, because it's routed through the keyboard, is that a problem?

No. I often use my Midi guitar foot pedal while recording the guitar midi to automate pedals in TH2. So you can play the keyboard and use the pedal to control the volume fader for the drum bus for example.
