getting my virtual instruments to playback.

I like some of the programs that play in my cakewalk drum samples. For example " brocolli breath ", I can play the sample and hear it, but I don't know how to "record" it onto my project.
I have tried to press the record button on the desired track and record on the main controller, but nothing plays back.
Any HELP would be much appreciated.
Thank you

If you're triggering a virtual instrument (session drummer, or something), then you record MIDI, and then bounce to audio.
    Which instrument are you using?

I'm not in front of my computer right now, but I think it's called Cakewalk TSS-1 drummer.

    Cool.
So for that one, record the midi, then bounce to audio.
