good audio patchbay ?

hi !
i get tons of problems with my behringer patchbays so i plan to change them, but... for what ? Are you happy with yours ? Searching on the web, it don't seem much companies are making audio patchbays.. Any ideas ?

No offence, but I can't imagine any problems with a patchbay by any manufacturer and especially Berhinger as this is the type of thing they do well. There's just nothing to a patchbay.

hmm.. in fact, there is : in behringer patchbay, female TRS are not locked on the rack, they are welded directly on the printed circuit, so after a few months of use, the weldment is broken and the electric signal do not pass anymore. I get twice and want to change them. Any idea ?

Sorry to hear that. That's the way it is with Behringer though, I think most of their products sound quite good, but a few of them dont' seem to hold up well. Looks like you've found one of the latter.

I haven't owned a patchbay for several years. I think the only one I ever had was a Tascam RCA unit. Never had a problem with it.

Yeah, the Eurorack mixers were great. I've had two of them for about 5 years with no problems. I don't remember which ones now, but a couple of guys here had problems with a specific series of Behringer mixers that came later. I've also got a Composer Pro-XL Compressor and a V-Amp2, both of wihch are several years old and going strong.

I've got a couple Tascam patchbays and a dbx as well. All have been great over the years. As for Behringer, it's always hit or miss. I have a Eurodesk mixer that has been in use for 6 years now and it is rock solid. On the other hand, I have 3 Eurorack UB mixers and they have all bombed; bad power suplies. The worst thing about it is they do not sell replacements. You have to remove the power supply and have a tech repair it at the component level.

I'm using a ProCo patchbay that I've had for at least ten years. Never a problem of any kind and it's easy to reconfigure with the flip of switches for each channel. Also, it was very reasonably priced (at least when I bought it---don't know what they go for now).

Thank you guys for sharing your experience ! Patchbay seems to be a difficult market, cause tascam, dbx and proco patchbays are no longer available in stores (new, i mean). I'm very interested in adc ones, but a little bit afraid about their plug system (soldering iron, what's that ??). So i think my new one will be called neutrik ! It's cheap, so it won't be a piggy-bank-break (?) if it only works for a year (hmm.. no, a year is not enough.) Hope it will not be like the Midi room behringer experience (beautifull studio, guys !) : 3 miss for 1 hit !
Wait and see... (In any case, it can't be worth than my beringher's.. 2 miss - 100% bad !)
