typically, distorted/out of sync playback within GTP2/3 is because the soundcard settings aren't mathced with the settings running in GTP. If you are recording in GTP at 16/44.1 make sure your soundcard is set to those settings as well. (get to your card through the "control panel"?

Otherwise, do a serach on this forum for "playback problems, distorted playback, etc" and you'll most likely find the fix pretty quickly. also, you could include your soundcard make/model just to make sure it is not an issue unique to your card.

Hey ray, I used to live in Townsville mate! Sounds like a latency problem. Caused by settings or by a weakish system trying to run what it can't really handle

I use a Preonus Firebox. It's a firewire external soundcard with 2 preamps, headphones, extra inputs etc. Go to 'turramurramusic.com' and look into their sound card range. The Audigies are ok, but you really want a proper one. Up in Townsville, you could check out Arties Music on Charters Towers Road. But I wouldn't buy from there. They charge too much. Buy online.

Your 'out of sync' problems sound like just a weak PC. What ram do you have? What are the actual specs of this Dell?

edit: I don't think it will be the Audigy. I ran an SBlive for ages and never had a latency/ out of sync problem...and Audigies are much better than SBlives. Your Audigy will handle multi track playback. It's your system that would cause slowness or out of sync problems. Even still, you'd have to post more specs please.

The other thing is to make sure that the sound card selected in the mix screen is in fact your Audigy, and not your onboard sound. Also, might be a good thing to go into bios and disable that onboard sound

quick note: it's not a latency issue that you have.

Latency is the time it takes the computer to process the signal you are sending it and for that signal to be thrown back at you through your headphones, monitors, can on a string, etc. (manifests itself as a delay between the time you pluck the string and actually hear the note in realtime monitoring) Since your problem comes during playback, and therefore no live signal is being processed by CPU, latency related fixes aren't going to fix this.

Since you said originaly that this happens with record/playback, (especially only 2 tracks) not latency related, weak PC related, low RAM, etc..

just wanted to make sure you're not sent on a wild-goose chase trying latency fixes or upgrading RAM when the fix is something else.
