hear self when recording

Strange things are happening tonight!
 
Although I have solo clicked on my audio track. I can't hear myself when I'm recording.  It plays back fine, but when I try to record and use my first track as a guide, I can't hear anything.  Seems to be a night for things to happen that usually work fine.

Try turning on Input Echo for your new "you" track, and turn off solo.

I thought it was fixed, but it seems that I can hear myself sometimes while I record (it's on the same track, I am using my own voice to lead me into the next section.  I've got the audiotrack on solo and I've tried it with input echo on and off.  sometimes it works but mostly it doesn't ......can't hear my own previously recorded vocals.

Why do you have it on solo?
 
If I don't have it on solo, all I hear is the piano track and I want to hear my voice as well.  It seems to work on other files and always has before but on this one it's doing strange things.  I have the piano and my voice on solo.
