help me justify the buy

Last day to buy the z3ta+ pentagon square bundle. I need some real creative rationalization/ justification to get this thing other than to win friends and influence people. What do you say P5ers, can you help me out?

well....i dont think you should do it.
I bought z3ta and I've never been able to open a project now without using it for many of my tracks. Besides Dimension its the heart and soul of my creativity!! So imagine if you had Square and Pentagon on top of that to boot!!

so... are you sure you want to spend ALL your waking hours being undone by these brilliant synths??

I arrest my case. You should NOT do it.

So, what you are saying is that your trance uberweapon of choice should not be used in the hands of a mere junglist like myself?

I've got to agree with Greg; you've got to draw the line somewhere. After all, you already want to offload your effects to some hardware that ...say, appears as a VST effect in your Audio FX bin. That's going to be difficult when you realize that z3ta+ ships with a plugin bundle that take the FX section of it and allows that to become a VST effect in its own right (independent of the soft-synth). Then there's the Mods; making it really three synths in one. Plus Pentagon and Square ... it's just too much for a mere mortal to handle all at once. You add the thousands of z3ta+ presets available, and consider the new V2 upgrade and Dimension ...

If we recommended this, we'd be responsible for your needing professional help to curb your gear-lust addiction. I can't do that in good conscience ...

    here's another point
let's say you don't buy it now, but later on you succumb to the temptation and pick up just z3ta
and end up paying as much for it as the bundle

then you'll always have something to wonder about if Pentagon et al would have been as useful as z3ta (probably not)

but the real point is all the exercise you may get from kicking yourself
that's really better for your overall health and fitness not to mention flexibility
than sitting hour after hour in front of one keyboard or another

Ahhhhhhhh... you guys are killing me... don't ever sponsor someone in a twelve step program...

hERE'S the deal... None of this would even be an issue if René hadn't come on the scene with that bad ass little piece of freeware known as Triangle II. I blew my first set of monitors with that thing and ever since i have wanted the whole set of "Shapes''. Ever since I downloaded the demos like two or three years ago I've been jonesin' for that z3ta+ fix...

Then....P5 came along and I forgot about them for awhile...until now

And when rgc:audio merged with cakewalk...OMG... I thought it was divine intervention or something....the universe was telling me that it was time...

The circle was now complete...SONAR/ Project5/ Rgc:audio( insert heavenly choir pad sound here)

I think I need professional help

OK, I'm a professional collector of fine plugs. If you don't get theses synths, you will never have anything but an amateur collection (except for Dimension of course). Just do it!

    ok here's something to consider
i have a wide wide variety of synths and I don't own or use z3ta or any of the fine products from rgc:audio. it's almost heretical position now that Rene has this alliance with CW, but there you are

so it is possible, but perhaps more difficult
otoh if i really really liked those sounds and could easily imagine making music with them, then i would own them

ok...seeing as my compadres have hopped off the wagon again I should mention then that there is a cool "third party" download that changes the skins and presets of z3ta to a junglist/trancer's dream!! Its called virus z3ta and offers a TON of extra presets!

But...you should stay away and pretend you never heard us constantly raving about these things!

I also thought of saying that all of your z3ta+ questions could probably be answered right here at the forum, and that there were some tutorials in the works, and there's a rumor of an update around the corner, but I reconsidered saying it.
That would be just too much.

Too late... I downloaded the mod like... a week ago in the anticipation...

Time is running out...I wonder if the offer expires on the 30th meaning midnight EST or if I have all day Monday to agonize?

Does installing the VIRUS mod for z3ta overwrite the original settings?

(And yes, my credit card statement will have an additional $229 reflected in the balance next month)

No... what you do is make a copy of the z3ta directory, rename it, and install the mod over the copy. There'll be directions in the download, IIRC. And it's totally worth it, some great sounds, really open up z3ta's potential.

Well, I have only one negative comment... I played with the demo quite a while and I became very good at incorporating the decreasing and incresing volume into a groove. Now with the full version I almost miss the silence. I am however sure this effect won't last very long.

I have the word document with the install instructions but when I try to open it says something to the effect that it has to convert from word 97 format and all I have is word pad--it wont open could anyone possibly shoot me a copy of the install docs in a more recent format that will play nicer? I would be much obliged. -peace-

    ARRRGGGHHHH

It still won't open---I get a dialog box titled word 97 document conversion---

! unable to open graphics conversion filter. Do you wish to continue with conversion?

click yes or no (doesn't matter ) and get error reading document message.

I'm at a loss--do I need Word to open this thing?

Wordpad should open word documents. I don't know.... there might be formatting stuff going on that WP can't handle (there are graphics and stuff, more like a .pdf than a readme.)

I tried saving it as .rtf (rich text) but it was like 8 meg and I'm on dialup. :-(

Does someone have a place they could post it online as html??
