help with act learn

Can anyone help, I have set my soft synth with my a-500 pro act, but when i try set act for the other functions it won't respoend, I click the cell and get the learn ,but when i turn the or slide on my a-pro nothing happens like it does on the cake video, can anyone tell me where i'm going wrong
