help with creating step sequences

Can someone walk me through how to create a drum step sequence on a brand new project so it shows the little step-sequence icon in the clip?

I managed to do it once, but now I keep getting a mini piano roll view track representation instead of a clip representation... very frustrating!

Thanks -

Steve

right click on the piano keys in the PRV and choose a different view - General MIDI drums instead of chromatic or note names or whatever the choice is.

also, if you are set to channel 10 on TTS-1 it does this for you automatically, IIRC.

I wasn't very clear in my question.  See the images below - the top one is what I'm getting, even with the step sequencer - but the bottom one is the what I want to reproduce - but can't seem to (it has the step sequencer icon and loop indications).

How do I get this looping representation with the icon instead of the upper one (that seems to be the only one I'm getting now)???

I answered this the other day, but it looks like the Amazon crash lost it.
The top image is showing the inline PRV. The bottom image is a standard MIDI clip.
You need to turn off that track's inline PRV.
Another member who posted after me wrote that the inline PRV button is in the track pane, near the quantization buttons.

Excellent!  Thanks guys.  I don't know how you stumble on some of these things.
