hooky instrumental cue (fixed v2)
OK.... what we have here is .....again...a bit different. I wrote and recorded this in 2 hrs.... for a really really short deadline. The need is for a 2 minute cue....hooky rock instrumental with a repeating & hooky melody. Not a lot of time for fine tuning the mix if I wanted to get in under the wire. crits welcome Don't ask me! Bass & drums are from my "studio musicians" .....all the other tracks are me playing with guitar & synths.

Very nice for 2hrs of work. Not crazy about the piano sound, but it works.

Well since there was a deadline, it is what it is. Being able to fix some of the small timing issues could have helped it.

OK... regardless of whatever.... I decided to ..... remix, cut/paste/envelope/eq/timing, and generally make it a bit different. V2 is officially up Here now it's approaching 4 hrs total time.... all for slightly less than 2 minutes of music.

Not bad for 4 hours. I don't about the choice of the synth. Around 0:37 there was a sudden drop on volume. I like the E-Piano parts, there is soma jazzy hook in it.

++1----Great hook ---- Finally something you wrote and played instead of using all played samples from"Band In A Box" It's nice to finally hear your true talent and not a chord you just typed in a style

:37 to :39, it feels like the drummer gets confused about how to make this transition. Then again at 1:22. But I listened on cheapo laptop speaks, so you hear things differently I guess. I think you should stop playing hooky and get back to work.

If this is for TAXI, they sure don't give you much lead time, do they? I wonder if some people stay up all night writing stuff for them. Anyway, this is pretty cool. And 4 hours for 2 minutes is nothing!

Yeah Janet it was a cue with about 18 hrs until due when it came in. At least one guy did pull an "all-nighter" to get it finished. Several others modified existing tunes. I've seen a few like this with less then 24 hrs to get it finished and submitted. Most are a bit longer, thankfully.

Herb, let me start by saying that I don't think I could do anything in 2 hours, so I'm in awe that you could turn something decent out in that short of a time frame. It's a catchy tune, and it sounds like you accomplished what you set out to do. Good luck with it.

I like the tune a lot, but the instrument choices are not the best. Brings back memories of the playing the flutofone when I was a kid.
